Rennie Tours - Bob Marley Museum Tour
Its along Hope Road in the former residence of the Hon where the location of the Bob Marley Museum is. The structure has two stories, the lower being masonry and the upper of timber. The original plan of the building was basically rectangular with a projecting portiere of the building having a room above and carport below. Above the main portion of the building is a tipped roof with an engaged gable segment covering the portico.
The house is the original house and still manifest many of the period's characteristics such as the broad mouldings, the handmade wooden stair handrails, the lattice work throughout with unique arched shaped doorway and sash windows.
The servants' quarters are to the rear of the building. The Museum houses memorabilia of the Legendary Reggae Singer and Superstar Bob Marley. Reggae music is identifiable with Jamaica's culture internationally, and the Museum provides a glimpse into this aspect of our musical culture.
Jamaica’s world famous son, singer-songwriter Bob Marley, was responsible for making reggae music a global phenomenon. The popular Rastafarian became a cult figure even before his death caused by cancer in 1981 when he was 36 years old. The museum devoted to his memory is the most-visited sight in Kingston. The simple clapboard house was where Marley lived and recorded his music until he died, and is now packed with Marley memorabilia.
The museum portrays the life and achievements of this great man through artifacts, memorabilia, numerous writings and photographs and other head turning momenta. A 15 minute video presentation on the life story of Bob Marley is included in the tour. Souvenirs can be purchased before your departure.
